The flowering trees, shrubs and plants are outstanding! Purple and all shades of lavender... fiery orangey-reds... creamy whites... They have a tree here called a Poinciana Tree that was so amazing I made a U turn to snap a photo of it. Growing up, my grandmother had a yellow Jacaranda Tree, but I had never seen a Purple one... I believe this must be the state tree!!! They're everywhere & they are lovely!! Being from the South, I just adore Magnolia Trees... the aroma is heavenly. I had to chuckle when I saw the lemon trees in people's yards. We had lemon, grapefruit, banana and orange trees in Florida. Lots of good memories came to mind.

Coronado Beach: both the civilian side and the military one. Dogs were allowed on the military one so I took them for their first trip to the ocean. At first, they were scared of the waves and tried to get away. By the time we left, they were jumping into the waves & all around like a couple of ponies! : )

06 July 2009 Chula Vista, CA
Ok, so San Diego is NOT the heathen desert wasteland of Vegas. It has a much more comfortable climate and has the added benefit of the Pacific Ocean. (a huge plus to this Florida girl!!) : ) I stopped by The Joshua Tree National Park en route to the Bay.
The first night here, one of tHe sHeD members, Jess was kind enough to help me find a room on the bay. Two issues with these accommodations: 1. I was not allowed to leave doggies in room to go touring around. 2. they were booked through the 4th of July weekend. This is how we (my girls & I) ended up in Chula Vista.
As to the pictures: the road sign reminded me of a cartoon character; the florist with whom I spoke; San Diego, downtown; and my favorite Coronado Beach.

01 July 2009
The drive from Vegas to San Diego got me as far as Hesperia, California. It's two hours from San Diego, but the deciding factor was that the traffic had slowed to a crawl right after this exit owing to an accident... so i opted to take the exit!!!
Had to take the picture of the oddly spelt name of the road.
